Her name may sound pretty Danish, but Mia Hansen-Løve was really born in February 1981 in Paris and goes through life as Française. Those fancy double surname with that exotic vowel, the actress and filmmaker inherited from her grandparents, who were drawn from Denmark to France to build a new life there. In her still young career, Hansen-Løve already earned the necessary accolades for her work. So it was written by her and directed "Tout est pardonné" (2007), both for a Caméra d'Or at Cannes and was nominated for the César for best film and the film was then that she made - 'Le père de mes enfants' from 2009 - awarded the Special Jury Prize in the segment "Un certain regard", also in Cannes. In 2014 she made 'Eden', a film which she based loosely on the life of her older brother Sven, who spent years as a DJ on the road hammered in the international dance scene. It took three years to make the film, partly because it was not easy to obtain the rights to the music used in the film. Only when the influential French duo Daft Punk went over the line, the others followed.
Incidentally Sven hot in the movie Paul and he is played by Félix de Givry. Paul makes early nineties part with Stan (Hugo Conzelmann) of the Cheers duo, what with rave experiments and organizes parties. This provides modest successes, but not enough to live it. And so Paul bietst money to his mother (Arsinée Khanjian). Money that will go increasingly to his growing cocaine addiction, whether he buys the expensive drinks at the bar to decorate girls. That's his life. While the people around him to continue, grow up and enter a new phase in their lives, he lingers in his old surroundings. Two of his friends set up in 1994 and Daft Punk release their first single. How it's done with them, we all know (Hansen-Løve makes a wink to the fact that Daft Punk rarely or never shows without masks in public). His girlfriend Louise (Pauline Etienne) is sincerely loves him and wants to go with him, but because Paul does not answer those feelings, they decide to move on with her life. Paul knowing it, she is married and mother. Paul continues meanwhile muddling with his music, his coke and fleeting contacts. Fortunately, he does not really, but he was too restless to settle down and has little ambition to go for a serious career in music. "Eden" offers a particularly detailed look behind the scenes in the rave scene of the nineties, in which the parties were not held in stylish clubs, but in dingy basements and empty warehouses. The problems that novice DJs ran into, such as finding a suitable 'venue', or repeatedly adjusting the style of turn, outlined by Hansen-Løve in detail and all the colorful characters in which the 'scene' hung around his represented.
In Hollywood would the story of Paul's incipient success soon become a standard story about someone who comes from deep valleys to great heights and back. But Paul is content with his life, obviously do not have worldwide fame and stays nice twenty years of messing around at a modest level. He is someone who you really have, one after the other years have not seen it, you say he's changed a bit. As we saw in her earlier work, governed Mia Hansen-Løve about the special quality to capture the resignation of the daily concerns of its characters in such a way that it does not get boring. Only when you have it on too long to the idea, also shows the fire for Paul himself to be extinguished.

Protagonist Félix de Givry is equally subtle in his performance, which supplement the scant joy moments and the continuing disappointments his artistic life. He undergoes all left it, apparently it all makes him very little, but is that really the case? 'Eden' is a fascinating portrait of himself and his time struggling DJ in the notorious nineties and again, a fine piece of craftsmanship of talented Mia Hansen-Løve.
